This week in cinemas: ‘Out of Inferno’ (Hong Kong, China)

Out of InfernoOpening this week in Oz cinemas is the newest film from Hong Kong directors Danny and Oxide Pang, one that looks like it will take full advantage of the specialisation in special effects and CGI they have developed over the years.

Out of Inferno is a disaster movie that pits a group of heroic firefighters against a building engulfed in flames, perhaps a little reminiscent of Hollywood’s Backdraft from 1991.

The film stars Louis Koo, Sean Lau, Lee Sinje, Cheung Siu-fai and Chen Sicheng, and it’s out in Hoyts cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide from this Thursday Oct 3. Although a lot of the information on the Web about Inferno lists it as in 3D, I suspect we’ve got the 2D version here — Hoyts don’t identify it as 3D like their other releases.

Check Hoyts’ website or distributor Dream Movie’s Facebook page for more info!

Here’s a trailer with just enough heroism and slow-mo:
