CHINESE GHOST STORY

An impoverished tax collector (Leslie Cheung) falls in love with a beautiful but evil ghost, Wong Tsu Hsien (Joey Wang) when he seeks refuge from a storm in a haunted temple. Although previously warned about the possibility of demonic forces, Lin is a sucker for affection and unaware his newly acquired love seduces men on behalf of an ancient Evil Dead-like tree monster that sucks out human life forces. Former martial arts coordinator Ching Siu Tung's supernatural fantasy of earthly lust and reincarnation, with key creative input from producer Tsui Hark, pelts along in a blaze of colour and perpetual movement, accompanied by bizarre effects that, for sheer imagination, leave your average Hollywood blockbuster for dead.
