Daniel's Top Ten Hong Kong Films Ever...

1. POLICE STORY 3 (Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung)
Two cops, Ka Kui (Chan) and Yeung (Michelle Yeoh), infiltrate a band of drug dealers in a desperate attempt to catch the leader. Along the way action abounds and comedy runs riot at the expense of Kui's poor girlfriend (Maggie Cheung). The best of the four Police Story films, with solid performances by three of the biggest names in Hong Kong cinema.

2. DR WAI IN 'THE SCRIPTURES WITH NO WORDS' (Jet Li)
Jet Li conquers all with this parody epic. The story of a TV writer whose life, however distant, has many similarities to the man in his stories, the heroic archaeologist Dr Wai. This tale has Dr Wai battling a beautiful women and searching for the 'Scriptures with no words'. Action, comedy and a dramatic flair make this my number two film.

3. DRUNKEN MASTER 2 (Jackie Chan)
Once again Jackie Chan serves an ace (excuse the tennis) with this epic, set in the early 1900s. Wong Fei (Chan) has just arrived back in his home town to live with his parents. After being challenged by a local fishmonger he resumes fighting with his famous 'drunken boxing'. With a mother boasting her son's ability, Wong finds himself demonstrating his 'boxing' on a gang of thugs. As it turns out this gang is part of a small army (!) running antiques illegally.

4. MR CANTON AND LADY ROSE (Jackie Chan)
Jackie, Jackie, Jackie!!! Why am I so taken by this guy! Here he strikes again in this slightly off-centre gangster film. When a dying mob-boss points out Jackie as his successor what more could one expect? His luck however, is only as good as a rose. And this rose can only come from the poor woman outside his door every morning. Comedy is what this film is about, it had me in stitches for almost the entire duration. It's not that, but the several dramatic scenes that give this film some substance however. Something that is sorely missed in some Chan films.

5. THE KILLER (Chow Yun Fat, Danny Lee. Dir: John Woo)
What more needs to be said... John Woo, Chow Yun Fat and Danny Lee hold you to your seat and knock you out time and time again. Shocking violence, glorious plot.

6. ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA 2 (Jet Li)
7. TO BE NUMBER ONE (Ray Lui)
8. YES, MADAM (Michelle Khan)
9. THE YOUNG MASTER (Jackie Chan)
10. CRIME STORY (Jackie Chan)

Please note: this list is subject to change, with the time it takes to read this, it's probably out of date!
