Michael Retter's Top 10 Hong Kong Movies

1. THE KILLER (1989)
This is my favourite because of the great action scenes and cast. Chow Yun Fat is just fantastic in the role of Jeff the assassin.

2. POLICE STORY (1986)
I love this film for three reasons . The opening car chase stunt through a shanty town, the double decker bus stunt and the shopping mall climax.

3. ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA 2 (1992)
My favourite of all Jet's movies. The film has great action and visuals.

4. ENTER THE DRAGON (1973)
Bruce Lee is a legend and this film is a genuine Classic. I really enjoyed Bruce's fight with Bob Wall.

5. THE ADVENTURERS (1995)
This movie has terrific performances, compelling storyline and good action. This really is a very good movie .

6. CRIME STORY (1993)
A good change from Jackie's usual action/comedy movies. This is a serious action/thriller with a good story line.

7. NAKED KILLER (1995)
A very different action movie . The film is full of sex and violence and is very entertaining.

8. PRISON ON FIRE (1989)
This was the first Hong Kong movie I ever saw and it's very good. Chow's performance was pretty good.

9. THE ARMOUR OF GOD PART ONE and TWO
Jackie does come great fighting and amazing stunts in these two excellent actioners. In part one the fight in the monks' castle is great and in part two the climax in the Nazi hideout is fantastic .

10. CITY ON FIRE
This is a great movie which entertains with a good story and excellent performances instead of action scenes. Chow is at his charismatic best and Danny Lee is also good as one of the jewel thieves.
