Ralph's Top Ten Hong Kong Movies

If he was able to talk, I'm pretty sure that Ralph would cite these as his favourite Hong Kong films:

PRINCE CHARMING
In this one Michelle Reis has a cute little fluffy white dog called BB. Ralph would not mind either (a) getting to know BB, or (b) being carried around by Michelle Reis.

FONG SAI YUK
Kung fu legends Mother Fong and Fong Sai Yuk are chased by fierce guard dogs in this one, causing Mother Fong to wail "It's shit to be chased by the dogs!". This never fails to crack Ralph up.

THE LONGEST SUMMER
Halfway through this film, Jo Kuk gives Tony Ho her dog, Bebe, to look after. Ralph is not sure he would like to be looked after by Tony Ho, who seems to lead an active and crime-filled life, but he thinks the dog is quite noble-looking.

ALL ABOUT AH LONG
In this one the kid gets given an irredeemably ugly yet strangely appealing little hairless dog. Ralph finds this fascinating, but sure hopes that he won't be that wrinkled when he's old.

THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR
Brigitte Lin is the wolf girl, an orphan who plays the flute and runs with wolves. Ralph wouldn't mind running with Brigitte Lin.

KING OF COMEDY
In this one Ng Man Tat is forever denying Stephen Chow a lunchbox. He always throws the lunchbox to the ground, where a cute and adorable little puppy is always on hand to lick it up. Ralph wishes that Ng Man Tat would throw lunchboxes on the ground for him. However, he wants to know what happened to the Dalmatian in the film's poster, as he does not appear in the film.

C'EST LA VIE MON CHERI
In her first scene in this film, Anita Yuen can be seen feeding about twenty stray dogs. From this moment she captured the hearts of the Hong Kong audience, and also the heart of Ralph.

FROM BEIJING WITH LOVE
This satire starring Anita Yuen has a send-up of her entrance in C'est la vie mon cheri. It's essentially the same scene. Ralph reckons that the labrador holding the red rose looks rather distinguished.

HOW TO GET RICH BY FUNG SHUI
One of the many pieces of psychic advice in this direct-to-VCD effort is that black dogs are considered to be "wise and fortunate". Ralph could not agree more.

HARD BOILED
While there are no dogs per se in this film, there is a kick-ass bad guy called Mad Dog, and that's close enough for Ralph.

RALPH provides household security from stinky cats and evil birds here at Heroic-Cinema HQ, and also personally supervises all competition draws. Rumours that his 'supervision' consists of me bouncing dice off his furry noggin while he's asleep are completely unfounded; I usually wake him up first.
