I recently attended the screening of the opening film for the 13th Japanese Film Festival in Sydney, The Handsome Suit. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, with the cinema packed with movie lovers and filled with constant laughter as the film was shown. I found out later that over 90% of the night’s audience thought the film was ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’, and am pleased to say that I was one of the crowd who enjoyed this film tremendously.

There was a time that the name of Miike had been unheard before these ears and his films unseen before these eyes. But yeah, that moment of enlightenment came upon me and I was awoken.

If I said that Godzilla vs Megaguirus was a terrible film, I’m sure not that many people would disagree. The thing is, I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the Godzilla sequels, which, whilst not deserving critical acclaim, are still enjoyable. Unfortunately, this film is not one of them.
