(Update: we’re all out, I’m afraid. Thanks, everyone!)
Tony Ching Siu-tung’s The Sorcerer and the White Snake, starring Jet Li, hits Australian cinemas nationwide this Thursday, and Icon have sent me five double passes to give away!
If you’d like one, head on over to the Contact Us page and get in touch. Make sure you include a postal address, otherwise I’ll have nowhere to send it!
The film is a big-budget adaptation of the classical Chinese Legend of the White Snake, which has been retold many times in many forms, including in Tsui Hark’s 1993 film Green Snake and the Shaw Brothers’ Madame White Snake in 1962.
This one, though, brings some contemporary special effects, Tony Ching Siu-tung’s particular brand of action, and a cast headed up by Jet Li, Eva Huang and Raymond Lam. There’s a trailer here on Youtube that should give you a feel for the style of the film: aside from the more modern CGI, it looks to me like Ching Siu-tung has returned to his supernatural fantasy-directing roots!
