This week in cinemas: ‘Tai Chi Hero’ (China)

Hot on the heels of Chinese steampunk martial arts film Tai Chi 0 comes its sequel, Tai Chi Hero. The two films were shot back-to-back on a shared budget, and it’s in Part Two that we get to see what becomes of Yang Luchan, now that he’s mastered Chen-style tai chi.

Rhys’s review of the first film should give you some backstory, if you didn’t catch it, but my feeling is that this theatrical release is only going to be of interest to those who caught Tai Chi 0.

It’s showing around the country at selected Hoyts cinemas, and at the Dendy in Canberra — there’s more screening info at Icon Movies’ page for the film, and here at Hoyts.
