OzAsia Festival 2016 now on in Adelaide!

OzAsiaIt’s already started, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it earlier and post it, but we’re not too late!

There’s a great program of films showing as part of the OzAsia Festival currently running in Adelaide (17 Sep – 2 Oct), including an event this weekend that will probably be of great interest to HK film buffs: a short program of Johnnie To films and a masterclass with the director himself.

The films on show are listed here and include five from Johnnie To:

  • Election
  • Mad Detective
  • Three (his latest release)
  • Office
  • Trivisa (produced by To and Yau Nai-hoi, but directed by newcomers Frank Hui, Jevons Au and Vicky Wong)

A ticket to any of these will also get you in for free to the Johnnie To Masterclass on September 24, where the director will talk about filmmaking in conversation with Assoc. Prof. Mike Walsh from Flinders University.

As well as the above, there’s an eclectic program of other Asian cinema, from glossy Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan to Berlinale-winning Russian drama Under Electric Clouds.
