Update: This giveaway has closed, thanks to everyone who wrote in!
Congratulations to Judith in Geelong, Andrew in Melbourne and Michael in Adelaide: your discs are in the mail.
Today from our friends at Icon, who did such an impressive job releasing Asian films in Australia last year, I have three blu-ray discs to give away of Ching Siu Tung’s 2011 film with Jet Li, The Sorcerer and the White Snake.… (read more)
Big films screening at the KCO for March (Sydney)
Just a quick note for readers in Sydney — as part of their Cinema on the Park series, the Korean Cultural Office have dubbed this month’s programme ‘X-treme Korea’, and they’re showing a bunch of great stuff. The Raid (2011)
The Raid opens nationwide on the 22nd of March. Check Madman’s site for more details.
Director Gareth Evans and newly-minted action star Iko Uwais have followed up their 2009 martial arts flick Merantau with this hard-edged action film, and Madman have been good enough to bring it to cinemas nationwide! What does it have to do with the Gold Coast, you might ask? Well, just … (read more)

Let The Bullets Fly (2010)
This 2010 China-Hong Kong co-production finally makes it to Australia on DVD, which is surprising considering it was China’s highest grossing film for that year, a title it still holds despite tough opposition from the recent Christmas releases of Zhang Yimou’s wartime drama The Flowers of War and Tsui Hark’s 3D fest Flying Swords of Dragon Gate.
Let The Bullets Fly’s distribution history outside China was also worrying: it couldn’t find a distributor in Australia on its release … (read more)

Moss (2010)
From the outset, Moss, by director Kang Woo-Suk (Public Enemy, Silmido), wasn’t quite what I expected. I expected long, and yes, it was that, clocking in at 2 hours and 43 minutes from opening to closing credits. Not that I was wishing it was over half way through, of course, but a run time of 163 minutes is something that you want to know about before you buy a ticket, generally speaking.
I expected a suspense … (read more)

The answer to our question was of course Moss, which was based on a popular webcomic that began in 2007.
