KOFFIA 2013 is coming
With their newsletter drop the other day (you can subscribe on their site), the Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) announced the dates and their new look for this year’s festival.
This year, they’re screening in three cities:
- Brisbane, from Aug 14-18, at Event Cinemas Myer Centre;
- Sydney, from Aug 21-29, at Event Cinemas George Street;
- Melbourne, from Sep 5-11, at ACMI in Federation Square.

Asian Cinema at the Sydney Film Festival 2013
Festival season is upon us again, and this year’s Sydney Film Festival released their full programme a couple of weeks ago. SFF always includes a pretty serious cohort of Asian films, and this year is no different! I’ve put together a quick roundup of the feature films from the East on show this year.

Korean Short Film Night at the KCO (Sydney, Nov 29)
The hard-working folks at the Korean Cultural Office here in Sydney dropped me a line to remind me that they have their 2012 Korean Short Film night scheduled for Thursday evening next week, with free admission for all (though you’ll need to book). Japanese Cinema Week, 24-28 September
The Japan Foundation’s Japanese Cinema Week is on again in Sydney! This is a free event, people, and tickets go fast so don’t even bother to read on. Just get your butts over to the website, mark up your must-see films and then email reception@jpf.org.au for your tix! STAT!

2012 International Chinese Film Festival
It’s certainly the season for festivals — another that almost slipped under our radar is the International Chinese Film Festival, which opens this weekend (15 September) in Sydney with their opening film Dangerous Liaisons and powers through their line-up of twenty-two (!!) feature films over the rest of the month at Event Cinemas on George Street.

KOFFIA 2012 Lineup Released
The wait is over, and the hardworking folks at KOFFIA have released their festival lineup for this year. Twenty new feature films, three modern classics and a bunch of short films in three cities this time: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
